Match your A-Level Subjects to your

University Course Ambitions by following these steps

Struggling to choose those A-Level subjects? Maybe even the right Sixth Form to carry out chosen subjects?

This blog is here to give you some steps to consider when aiming to match your Sixth Form study to your future University Course Ambitions. Keep reading for the steps and some helpful links to investigate.


Keep in mind:

Enjoyment of a subject is directly linked to success. Remember to choose a subject in which you have previously attained good grades but also in which you find the teacher inspiring and enjoy acquiring further knowledge.


Listen to advice from your school:

The teachers and mentors at your current school have seen you develop and thrive as you have continued to study with them, as well as considering your own strengths and weaknesses as well as what you enjoy, consider the opinion of someone who as watched you grow in their educational environment to understand further what route will be most beneficial for you.


Review your chosen school for Sixth Form and it's success:

Thoroughly reviewing your chosen school(s) for Sixth Form will ensure whether the school you prefer will help you to exceed your expectations in your chosen field. Consider their previous students results and their approach to the curriculum. Also consider the curriculum that your chosen Sixth Form cover for your favoured subject.


Consider the relevance your chosen subject has to your future career ambitions:

Your favoured subject for Sixth Form should reflect on your career ambitions and be relevant to what you may study at University, this will keep you on a streamline to success in your chosen career. If you have questions about your chosen career, you can speak to your friends and family or possibly someone you know in that field, or consider speaking to your current teacher to help you with research in the field.


Remember that some university courses require specific grades in the right subject:

Keep in mind your career ambitions and what university courses you may want to take in the future, is the course what you would consider enjoyable and beneficial but also are the grades you need achievable in said area. Research your favoured subject on the UCAS Subject Page to find more information and the requirements for entry.
