Calling all Year 12 Students

It's never too early to start your application to university!

Not sure how or where to begin your university application?

It's never too early, and honestly if you're unsure... then the earlier you start the better!

From my personal experience, the sooner you start the research process for your university application, the more prepared and informed you'll feel and be.

The beginning of your research for university should include the following things:

  • What would you like to study?
  • Does your chosen subject compliment your career ambitions?
  • Does your current A-Level subject comply with your potential university course.
  • What reputation does the university, course and education staff have?
  • What are the average grades at the university?
  • Where will you live or how will you commute?

There are many more things to research along the way, but the checklist above is a good place to start, and as I keep saying - the sooner, the better!

There are always people to talk to to get started, when I was in year 12 our tutors at college/sixth form were ready to answer any questions I had.

Sometimes you have so many it's best to jot them down and organise a meeting to discuss in length your queries!

The staff I spoke to usually had helpful answers that would also take into consideration my strengths that I have developed during my education - that is also what our education experts do during one-to-one consultations with our clients - book your first call here to start the ball rolling.

When you book your first call with one of our expert consultants you will be encouraged to fill out a questionnaire so we can get an idea why you have reached out to us, this is where you can bring with you any queries about your university research and our consultant that is suited to you will help answer those questions to give you clarity of your next steps through the application process.

Your application will be done through UCAS which you've probably heard of before but if not here's a simple insight:

Services provided by UCAS include several online application portals, a number of search tools and information and advice directed at various audiences, including students considering higher education, students with pending applications to higher education institutes, parents and legal guardians of applicants. For more information you can visit the UCAS website.

The application process itself is a lengthy one, but not as complicated as some think. The sooner you research the elements of the process the sooner you can get started with the big things such as your Personal Statement.

Another thing to keep in mind is the UCAS Tariff Points system, this system is part of your entry way - where UCAS converts grades into points that count towards your application to your chosen university(s). We have a blog that explains how this works which you can read here.

These two things and more add up to your application which you can find more information about by attending our webinar on the 8TH FEBRUARY 2022 where Company Founder, Catherine Marx and University Expert, Steve Martin will talk with parents and students through the Nuts and Bolts of the UCAS Application Process in detail.

You can also participate in a Q&A at the end where they will answer any burning questions that may not have come up during the webinar.

Sign up to Uni-Assist Hub to access the webinar and other exclusive content by clicking this link.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The personal statement is a key part of any UCAS application. It’s the part of the application where you, the applicant, have the most control. You’ve got 4000 characters including spaces (about one side of A4) to tell the admissions tutor your personal story.
